The Soldier Man Artist

Based in Christchurch, New Zealand, Chris Solly (aka The Soldier Man Artist) is busy turning resin into art that makes people stop and say, “Whoa… how’d you do that?”

Along with a Collection of works exploring identity, culture, and transformation through bold bird imagery. Blending vibrant pop-art colour, graphic contrast, and moody symbolism, they connect human presence with bird like forms to express freedom, spirit, and movement in a contemporary way.

Before resin stole his heart, Chris served in the New Zealand Infantry and with the United Nations in Bosnia. He’s also got a background in fitness and sport, which probably explains why he’s never been one to sit still creatively.

These days you’ll find him in his home workshop, music up loud, experimenting with colours, and figuring out new ways to make resin behave (or misbehave). His art is about transformation, playfulness and finding beauty in unexpected places.

If you’re after art that’s fresh, full of energy, and guaranteed to spark a conversation, Chris has you covered.
