Dharan is based in Nelson and gathers inspiration from local and international sources. He specialises in land, sea, and skyscapes, complemented by macro-worlds that sometimes get overlooked.
Through his photography it is Dharan’s intention to immerse people in the natural world and offer new windows for appreciating what is around and within us.
Photography’s gift for Dharan, is in capturing fleeting, momentary surprises - how shifting light plays with shape and shadow – be it in savouring the soft light of the bush; discovering the unexpected up a rarely trodden river; or revelling in that special late afternoon light on the beach, where contrast amplifies and colours saturate.
Dharan’s work is a celebration of elemental beauty, essence within form, the peace of open spaces, and valuing being alive in the present.
