Debbie lives in the beautiful coastal city of Tauranga, New Zealand, with her husband, approximately 63 Seagulls and a couple of Pukeko. Debbie works from a home studio with inspiring views of the harbour and a short walk from the beach and Opopoti (Maungatapu) Marae. Debbie is a trade published children’s author and illustrator, ex children’s Librarian and a cool Nana. Debbie began sketching her Bird Riders series while in Italy on an Artists Residency.  She utilises the opacity and vibrancy of her favourite Gouache paints, to convey her detailed yet simplistic representations of the flora, fauna and folk of Aotearoa.
