Alison Gilmour

Working in acrylic on canvas, Alison Gilmour captures the endless beauty of her surrounding environment with delicate brushwork and an unblinking eye – creating images which have a photo-realistic quality and hues which reflect the clarity, light and richness of the South Pacific.

Her life is a life lived near the sea. Alison grew up in a coastal part of Auckland, New Zealand and the influence of the coast and the intriguing plants that grow in that environment is central to her creative sensibility.

With a parallel career as a graphic designer, Alison's first love is painting and drawing. She now travels to beautiful locations around New Zealand, driven by a compulsion to paint the patterns of nature, icons and symbols of the places she loves and the places she finds.
