Rob Brown has been photographing the New Zealand landscape for over 30 years. After graduating with a Technology degree he worked in the outdoor equipment and publishing world, before becoming a full-time landscape photographer and writer in 2000. He is the author of several acclaimed books, including Classic Tramping in New Zealand (co-authored with Shaun Barnett), Rakiura: The Wilderness of Stewart Island, and New Zealand: The Essential Landscape. Between 2011 and 2014 he worked as part of the team that produced the TV series First Crossings which brought to the screen some of the history of exploration in the backcountry of New Zealand. Since 2018 he has been the general manager of the Backcountry Trust which delivers the nationwide volunteer program which maintains parts of the hut and track network on public conservation land. He lives with his family in Wanaka.
