Maurice Alec Poulton, 1909-1983, was a commercial artist and poster designer who worked for the Railways as a cadet from 1925.
He was appointed designing artist in 1938 and supervising artist in 1955. He retired in 1955, and in his last 20 years developed a great interest in fly-fishing around the Taupo-Turangi area.
He was also a landscape artist and painter, winning the Kelliher art prize.
