Leonard Cornwall Mitchell, (1901 - 1971), was an important New Zealand commercial artist and graphic designer. He was borm in Wellington, but completed a signwriting apprenticeship in Palmerston North, before working in the Government Publicity Department. In addition to designing posters , booklet covers and coins, he was also responsible for designing over 90 New Zealand stamps.
