Description
‘Manawanui’ means big or generous hearts, which reflects the people of Rarotonga, who are very kind, happy, and hospitable people.
A famous Māori ‘Whakataukī’ inspired Tipene while creating this painting:
"Ko te kokonga o te whare e kitea. Ko te kokonga o te ngākau, tē kitea".
"The corners of the house can be seen. The corners of the heart cannot".
He was inspired by the concept of food and hospitality through food. The colour purple in this art work- relates to purple kumara or the purple passionfruit.
